St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier founded the ‘Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd’ in 1835 as she was moved by the agony and sufferings of girls and women victims of the French revolution. A person gifted with a deep sense of love for humanity, Mary Euphrasia Pelletier revered each person in her/his uniqueness. During her lifetime she expanded her mission in 35 countries with 110 convents, including one in India.
The Sisters of the Good Shepherd have expanded their mission in 67 countries. In India, they are present in 11 States and have their mission in more than 35 locations.
Shepherding Mission in Salem District
In Salem District the Sisters of the Good Shepherd started their mission in 1999 and they are involved in community organisation and development services in Ayothiapattinam Block.
