The Good Shepherd Convent, Salem is a women- and child-focused development organisation committed to protecting the rights and dignity of those most at risk. Recognising that lasting social change requires collective effort, the Convent has been building strong networks with government bodies (GOs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and civil society groups.
These partnerships aim to safeguard the rights of women and children, amplify the voices of the marginalized, and promote systemic solutions to issues affecting victims of human rights violations.
By fostering dialogue and cooperation, the Sisters ensure that advocacy efforts are rooted in solidarity and directed toward meaningful, sustainable change.
Through the proposed project, the Convent seeks to strengthen and expand these networks, creating broader platforms for advocacy, lobbying, and policy influence. Under the banner of “Amaithi Sangamam,” the Sisters work closely with leaders from diverse faith traditions to nurture interfaith peace and harmony. Simultaneously, they collaborate with village-level organisations and youth groups to champion the rights of children and women. By uniting communities, empowering young people, and engaging decision-makers, this initiative strives to build an inclusive, just society where every individual—regardless of gender, caste, or faith—can live with dignity and security.
