Educational & Community Sponsorship

Poverty continues to place millions of children, families, and communities at risk of being trapped in a cycle of deprivation. Limited access to formal education and the lack of opportunities for growth prevent them from reaching their full potential.

Since 2004, in partnership with CHALICE, a Canada-based organization, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd have been offering educational sponsorship to children in need of external support. With well-defined strategies, children of both genders who require assistance are carefully identified to ensure that support reaches the most deserving.

At present, 239 children from seven Panchayats in the Ayodhiyapattinam Block are benefitting from this initiative.

Through the Educational and Community Sponsorship Programme, the Sisters not only support the education, nutrition, health, and hygiene of vulnerable children but also empower families to become self-reliant and resilient. The programme strengthens communities by helping them build assets, improve infrastructure, and nurture bonds of mutual care and support.
